This was... okay. I really love the concept, but I found the plot to be a little slow. There were a lot of long discussions that ended up feeling repetitive after a while.

An amazing premise (at the behest of the devil another ark is commissioned from an evil sorcerer to protect all the monsters of the world before god unleashes his flood), killer art work, and excellent writing totally won me over as a firm fan of [b:Dark Ark|37928662|Dark Ark|Cullen Bunn|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1523900214s/37928662.jpg|59646581].

The secular humanist in me can't help being a little giddy over biblical stories getting turned on their ear and there's something delightful about vampires, unicorns, manticores and harpies being "saved" right under god's nose. Shrae, the sorcerer who has committed unspeakably evil acts in his life, is offered the chance to save his and his families souls in exchange for ferrying the monstrosities of the world through 40 days and 40 nights of rain and the ensuing world destroying flood. He's a complex guy and not unsympathetic so I'm interested to see if we'll learn more about these "crimes." The monster's are threatening mutiny if they're not fed soon and Shrae's plucky and intelligent daughter is befriending the human sacrifices chained up in the hull so this sorcerer has his hands full.

I cannot wait to see where this is headed.
