it felt a little gimmicky at the end with
mat getting locked in the very nice box????
but it was fun. felt like it was trying to be romcom and also a drama at the same time which was mildly frustrating cause i wanted it to be silly. but. still fun.

I loved this book!!

Characters are mostly lovable and realistic and it explored a lot of themes around grief and friendship well

My only issue with it is that I wanted another chapter to wrap things up -
mostly because the sudden getaway after the very tense few chapters had little resolution

A somewhat thrilling book which I wouldn't call a romance, even with the focus on a relationship.

The plot twists are very predictable, but it feels like it's written that way since it doesn't lessen the impact of it and what comes after.

When I heard "Good Guys" I got such a big ick, even if you have no idea of the real life trope of the "good guy". It was so well written, enough that you still got the vibe that something was off about them.

Having survived the car crash which killed her fiancée and parents, Ava's life revolves solely around her work, to which she is incredibly dedicated. Upon meeting her new and charismatic boss, Mat, her life opens up once more as she decides to take a chance and befriend someone again. But the face Mat presents is not really representative of who he is, as Ava eventually finds out...

A mostly straightforward and dryly sweet story of Ava, comfortable as she can be post-tragedy, as she sails along and attempts to "move along" with her life. She navigates a pushy boss/clingy colleagues, a constant issue at work re: environmental impact and corporate responsibility, the pain and fear in opening up, and healing from trauma. While the twists were predictable very early on, I really enjoyed listening to this book. It was just a weird, fun, queer little thriller that had no right to be as tense as it was.

I highly recommend going into this with as little information as humanly possible. This book was leant to me by a friend who is a connoisseur of the "girl vs the void" genre/trope and wanted to give me a taste. This was literally all the info I had and this book blew my mind. Genre bending doesn't even begin to cover it. I love Ava Simon. Minor reduction for
Mat getting boxed up and there being no resolution? That felt a little cartoony and odd
other than that I LOVED this with my whole heart.

This started out like it would interesting.
It wasn’t.
People said it was funny.
It’s not.
People claimed in the review it was a thriller.
It wasn’t.

I hate myself for finishing it.
Why did I trust those reviews?
F for I am a fool for finishing it.

Loved this from start to finish. Clever, witty, and all around perfection. This book has it all - romance, mystery, and true friendship.

what a wild, strange, and bizarre ride this book was. i don’t even know what to say.

the lesson here? only date women.

Started strong but ultimately drug on far too long. I did like the ending, albeit a little swift and tidy.
