Holy hell, I loved this book so much! I usually don't like 2nd chance romances because they tend to dwell on the bitterness over the break up, but this story was just heartwarming and adorable. Pining to the max between Jules and Ruben, but also a ton of reflection on their first attempt at a relationship and how they've grown over the last 12 years. A+ communication too. The traveling around to have guilds vote on bringing werewolves into the fold did provide good plot movement and just enough background tension to urge Jules and Ruben to speak frankly to one another.

I have been waiting for Jules and Ruben's book, their history and relationship has been hinted out throughout the entire series and really intrigued me. I liked that it started in the past and gave us that much needed insight before moving back to the present and how we know Jules and Ruben.

I liked that they had a moral mission and a cause that pushed them back to working together, it fit in with what we knew of them as characters and gave them the right circumstances to come back together. The way it showed that they had developed as people to become what they needed to be to have a healthy and equal relationship with a good level of communication and trust behind it.

The plotline around the Covens and trying to get them to vote to allow werewolves into the Coven was interesting. The politics and antiquated viewpoints from different people showed how people can be stuck in prejudice because it suits their selfish goals. I was a touch worried that it would be too easy with how easy it was to persuade the first coven into change. However, the twists and turns and darkness that came about by the end was interesting, tense and added some needed action.

It was also great to truly see Jules strength and power but also to see how become more comfortable and relaxed and start to develop a balance and allow herself to be cared for instead of always doing the caring. We got to see different sides of Ruben and man, I love a besotted man. He turned out to be sweet and devoted alongside being powerful.

I really enjoyed this installment in the series.

Ooo this one gave me just a touch of Discovery of Witches vibes, probably because it's set in England/London for a good time. After much anticipation, we finally get the backstory and reunion of the eldest Savoie sister, Jules, and her vampire paramour, Ruben. Lots of pining and angst in the beginning, gives way to mushy romance later, with some trials and tribulations in between.

I really liked this one, I will say that some of the dirty talk was a bit much and made me cringe a little. I think it was a really well done second chance romance, both Jules and Ruben grew alot since they first tried dating and the reason they first broke up definitely resolved itself.

happy to report that i also enjoyed this installment quite a bit! in fact, I absolutely loved the reason why jules and ruben broke up 12 years ago—totally justified imo—and how they slowly but surely came back together again. it was emotional, to say the least 😭 ❤️‍🩹

and i have to say, I loved the mystery element of this installment coupled with the very open-ended plot arc; it was much harder, unlike previous installments, to predict where and what the hell would go down in this one. the change of scenery was a nice breath of fresh air too, and I loved hearing seeing more of this AU on a global scale. I hope, either after Clara and Henry's installment or during, we get to see more world-building like this.

I was so shocked that
Gabriel
was a bad guy! I'm really sad, I really liked him.
