A lovely contemporary fairytale. I really enjoyed it!
The story ended nicely and I enjoyed it, but the beginning with the cannibals didn’t lead anywhere and never tied back in to the rest of the story. Same with the blistering land. The nettle cloak seemingly had no real purpose either?

I enjoyed the whimsy and the main plot, and the dust-wife is my favourite character, but the romance subplot was incredibly dull and I could have done without it.

This is the fourth Kingfisher book I've read. I find most of her books are slow to start but the story always picks up. Unfortunately, this book was slow all throughout and a slog to get through. I skimmed the last 40 pages.
