Very engaging and readable to me. The connection between D&D and life in North Korea didnt totally stick for me because I’m unaware of D&D intricacies, but I got the overall message. The ending was a surprise, overall a good read about a totalitarian regime.

In North Korea, when your Dungeon Master tries to touch your pee-pee (fails dexterity check, fails charisma check), that doesn't even make it in your top 100 problems.
A fascinating story told with a strange distance and flatness.

This is interesting, but occasionally falls flat. The whole premise is so fascinating, and the book moves along at a pretty rapid pace. Like other reviews, I didn’t like the authorial insertion of the narrative first-person voice: it felt awkward and intrusive and just didn’t fit with the rest of the book.

When it switched to the narrator at the end, it felt like the focus on Jun-Su just completely dropped.
