Disclaimer: I read an advanced copy of this book given to me by the publisher because I won it in a giveaway.

I loooooved this book and the story. It is just a fun read. I love beer, and going over the beer making process was a lot of fun. I thought the characters were great, the jumps across timelines kept things interesting. I think this book deals with family dynamic and friends who are like family as well. I just had a really good time experiencing this book and would recommend it to anyone.

I loved Kitchens of the Great Midwest SO much, but wow, did the author miss the mark with this one. The characters were tinny, the story details were often unbelievable and all-in-all this book was lacking. I’m embarrassed for the author and/or maybe myself? I feel the urge to reread Kitchens to double check if it was as amazing as I remembered or if I temporarily lost my book reviewing edge.

Loved this sweet tale of three generations of Midwestern women and their adventures in the male-dominated world of brewing. I felt like I knew these women, which is high praise for the writing of the male author!

A heartwarming, lighthearted, cozy book with a lot of heart that's not centered around romance? I'm all in! After finishing this book in two sittings, I truly have no notes.

From its morally gray women to its Minnesota setting to its exploratory theme of aging with purpose and second chances, it had me hooked. My favorite part of the book comes into play toward the end, and while it's not quite a spoiler, I recommend going into this one as blind as you can.

While I enjoyed Stradal's debut, this sophomore novel was exactly what I wanted to read this summer. I may not enjoy beer, but this backlist book of women making craft brews in a male-dominated industry might have just become my favorite book of the year so far.

Two sisters growing up in Minnesota in the mid-twentieth century. One inherits the family farm and achieves her dream, one keeps going through everything, and there is quite a lot of everything. It’s a quiet book, but the characters are vivid and the beer lore is a rabbit-hole-ish surprise. Really enjoyed this one, and it is especially lovable since I know and love so many people from the northern Midwest.
