I have to say I just love this book. I had a hard time putting it down. Its really not your traditional love story there are 4 main characters and each story was told amazingly.I just Love Sally and Roys story and I found a friend in Carmen and well almost on the characters. With out giving to much a way this is a story you will want to read so you can no what happens. I have never read anything by this author and now can't wait to read more. I can honestly say there is not one thing about this book I did not like.

I was given a copy of this book from netgalley for my honest review

This is the first book I've read by Amanda Cabot, but I understand that under her various names, Cabot is, at heart, a romance writer. And she's done that again with her new Texas Crossroads series. At Bluebonnet Lake is the first in the series, and it meets both people and places at a "crossroads" in their lives. Whether it is a question of confronting priorities, broken relationships, hope for the future, or reclaiming purpose, Cabot brings her main and her minor characters--and the resort where their lives intersect--into crossroads where the reader is invested and cares about their next steps.

At Bluebonnet Lake is truly a sweet romance. It is the love story of people and place and family. As is the case with most romances, I found the ending predictable. Still, it was a journey that I enjoyed taking. And along the way there were a few surprises. Most of those surprises came in how much I ended up caring about Rainbow's End and the town of Dupree--and all of its minor characters. I look forward to future books in the series and hope Cabot continues to tell their stories, dropping At Bluebonnet Lake's main characters--Kate, Greg, Sally, and Roy--into the background in favor of exploring more of Carmen, KOB, Lauren, and even Fiona. I even couldn't help rooting for Drew to find his own happy ending.

This is a sweet book. It's a sweet love story and an invitation to settle down and enjoy the peace and the quiet of the sweet gifts God places in your path.

Having read some of Amanda Cabot’s books before, I couldn’t wait to read this one. I wasn’t disappointed in the least. I kept turning the pages until I realized that I was at the end of the book within a matter of hours.

Kate is stuck in a life that she believes her, now deceased, grandfather wanted for her, to become a partner in a marketing company. Greg is hiding out from his past life so that he can find out what God wants him to do next in his life.

This book was really relatable in the sense that I think every person at some point in life struggles to take a risk and just let go. I know I do. Even though this is a work of fiction I believe that anyone can take some help or advice away from it for themselves.

I can’t wait for the next book in this series, which unfortunately comes out in May of next year. I guess I’ll just have to be patient.

I've read all of Amanda Cabot's historical novels, but At Bluebonnet Lake is her first contemporary romance - and the start of a new series. Granted, it's been out for a year now (REVELL, October 2014) but I'm just now getting to it. What a treat I was missing!

The scenery, painted across the page by Ms. Cabot's talented hand, captivated me. From the placid Bluebonnet Lake to the fields of bluebonnets themselves, I was about ready to hop in the car for a road trip!

I really enjoyed reading about Kate and Greg - they were sweet and fun together, and I'd love to just hang out with them for an afternoon or so. But, Sally and Roy took me by surprise and completely stole my heart! Those two made me tear up more than once - or grin like a sap - or both at the same time. Add Carmen and KOB and the people of Dupree & you have a cast of characters that truly shines.

Speaking of characters, the author has promised at least two more trips to Rainbow's End. I'm looking forward to each stay already :)

Bottom Line: A sweet, gentle romance with strong and endearing characters and a plot that will tug at your heart. If you've read Amanda Cabot's historicals, you will really enjoy her first foray into the contemporary market as well. Fans of Irene Hannon's or Robin Lee Hatcher's contemporary romances will find a lot to love about At Bluebonnet Lake too!

Introducing a cast of likeable characters, At Bluebonnet Lake is a great kick-off to Amanda Cabot's Texas Crossroads series.
--------
The characters at Rainbow's End (and in the neighboring small town of Dupree) are the strength of this novel. Most of them are people I would like to get to know in real life. Grandma Sally, adorable older gentleman Roy, Samantha the boot maker, Lauren and her precocious daughter Fiona, and Carmen the cook are characters I look forward to reading more about. I actually enjoyed the friendships between characters more than I did the romance between Kate and Greg. In fact, some of the romantic scenes were a bit too sappy for me (surprising, considering my affection for the sap the Hallmark Channel puts out on a regular basis). But the great characters and engaging plot kept me flipping the pages.

I won't be continuing the Texas Crossroads series for the romance, but I will be continuing it for the characters. I'm excited to read what comes next! 3-1/2 stars.

I wante to like this book more than I did. It just seemed so slow and I knew how it would end within the first few chapters. Nothing exciting ever really happened. The romance didn't seem very believable because of how quickly things progressed for the couples. I liked the characters enough, even though they didn't have anything special that made them unique. The Christian aspects of the book didn't always seem to fit and sometimes I found myself saying "Oh yeah, he's a Christian too."

I wanted to give this book two stars, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I didn't dislike the book enough for two stars, but I didn't like it enough for three. So I decided to just round up and go with three. Why not?

Number one in the Texas Crossroads books, At Bluebonnet Lake is the first contemporary novel by Amanda Cabot that I've read.

I have always enjoyed her western historical novels and at first I was little unsure of the change of setting and time. But my hesitation was unwarranted.

Her book was truly a delight. The characters Kate, Sally, and Greg were well defined and complex. Their growth was naturally occurring and the budding romance filtered in slowly and took hold.

The relationship between Kate and Greg was not a fast paced romance. It grew slowly and beautifully like the flowers of Texas. The love between Kate and her grandmother, Sally, showed the beauty of unconditional family love.

When it comes to Amanda Cabot, I have found that none of her books disappoint.

This contemporary romance is a winner and I'm sure anyone who loves beautiful romance would enjoy this one.

At Bluebonnet Lake is an Amanda Cabot 5-star.

Amanda is an author that I have heard many good things about but honestly have not been able to read her books for myself until now. At Bluebonnet Lake is a sweet read that was strictly about the romance between Kate and Greg and the restoration of Rainbow's End. The writing was beautiful and I loved the way Amanda told her story, however, when I read a novel set in "today's" time period, it is usually a suspenseful thriller where something unexpected happens in the unlikeliest places. So, I had some what of a difficult time reading this slower paced, modern day romance with my "today's time" mindset. At Bluebonnet Lake is beautiful book, and I loved the characters, but, I wish that I had read one of Amanda's Historical fiction books for a first time read, as historical fiction is more my thing.

I am still rating At Bluebonnet Lake 4 out of 5 stars because it really is a great book, just simply not my preference.
