I received an advance copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway. I always really enjoy Steve Berry books so I was thrilled to receive a copy. However, this was on Steve Berry book I did not enjoy. I found it really repetitive through the book. Also, he kept focusing on the renewed relationship of Cotton and Cassiopeia. It kept being repeated over and over that they both weren't great with feelings.
The story itself was interesting due to the fact it dealt with more recent history, the Cold War. However, maybe because I am a Cold War junkie I didn't like the story. Plus the part about the 14th Colony, the title of the book, was actually a small part of the book. And to some extent not relevant.
I think this is just a rare miss for Steve Berry and I will still look forward to his next one.

One of my favorite authors. He spins a web so intricate I always have to double check what's fact and fiction. Can't wait to start my next thrilling history lesson with The Lost Order.

As always, I really like Mr. Berry's books. Highly recommended if you are interested in the 25th amendment, the Cold War, or what the 14th Colony means. I apparently wasn't reading much - I can't believe it took me 20+ days to read this book.

Actual rating 3.5 stars. This book took me forever to finish. The 350 pages of buildup were hard to get thorough but the 150 pages of payoff were good and I read those in one sitting. As a Canadian it was fascinating to learn about the US plans to annex Canada, which are apparently real as described in the story. Who knew.

Just another fun book in the Cotton Malone Series. It kept me entertained while I was out on my daily walks and that is all I ask of books when I am walking! :-)

Lekker vol actie met een klein historisch tintje, wellicht dat sommige punten een beetje ongeloofwaardig zijn maar ik vind de boeken van Steve Berry altijd heerlijk weglezen en lekker verslavend zijn.

I am a fan of Cotton Malone and this book did not disappoint. Add Casseopia and some Russians and you are in for a great book. From Russia to Canada to Washington DC this group doesn't have time to stop working!
