this nothing burger of a book…
anything interesting about the characters or plot were terribly predictable or resolved in a way that was completely unsatisfying. where is the tension????
the cookie cutter nature of the plot and world did this no favors as tropes were strung together in an almost comical fashion to get from point a to point b, especially with the relationships between any of the characters. i rushed through the last five chapters just to be freed and thank god it’s over
not an objectively bad book but NOT for me. faes you shant be seeing me again 😔

I liked the story but I didn’t like the way it was told; I always felt like I was getting context AFTER it was relevant and so I always felt like I had missed a page. The writing style also felt very bare bones and it was hurting me how many sentences started with ‘I’. I might read the next one but I’m not itching to

I really enjoyed this book. Although the ending felt a bit abrupt and rushed, and I would have preferred the final reveal to be more of a cliffhanger, I’m excited to see how the next book unfolds. The romance was well-developed, the magic aspects were intriguing, and the hidden motives were skillfully crafted. The mystery surrounding the hidden origins kept me thoroughly invested, and I still have lingering questions. Additionally, I appreciated the alternate perspective chapter at the end, which added depth to the story.

I loved this book. Like LOVED this book. Keera has what I have been yearning for in a heroine for a long time. She is smart, resourceful, logical, and flawed. While that may sound rather run of the mill for a female assassin troupe, the difference I feel is that she isn't just described as these characteristics, she embodies them. She shows proof in her actions and thought processes that these are apt descriptors, which is a rare development I feel in modern day heroines. I think we get a lot of authors claiming their characters are these amazing people, but very little proof in the actual story if that makes sense? Keera definitely shows her worth time and time again and I just loved her. This is a 10/10 book for me I cannot wait for the sequel.
