Halflings (half Fae/Elves) are turned into assassins to kill the human king’s enemies. A Fae (the Shadow) is rebelling and Keera the head assassin is sent to stop him, but joins the rebellion instead.

Writing style is very bland, and I felt there were quite a few little plot holes, but nothing too terrible to get past

Very good! Assassins, fae and elves and a little spice at the end!

Will keep reading the series but wasn't super catching

I wasn’t overly impressed with majority of the book and there were some bits that were predictable but I also feel like this will have that ACOTAR effect where the first is the lowest of the series. Will be moving on to book 2 to confirm

Maybe a 4, just didn’t love the ending

Tropey as promised! But I am really not in the mood for morally grey fantasy war these days
