I bought this because V E Schwab recommended it and because I thought it was completely different then it is. What I assumed would be a weird, fantastical book about books is more of a strangely grounded sci-fi with a POV character who is in the military and lots of like, short action descriptions. Not the weird slow book horror I was wanting, and that's not the books fault but I simply don't care to continue.

This is a really off the wall idea, different from so much else I have read recently. High point is that it is really imaginative and builds an incredible amount of suspense and intrigue, low point is that you don't really find out what is going on until page 345 or so, and while the ending is satisfying, it also sort of feels abrupt and truncated compared to the lead up of the tale.
