Hilarious

Intriguing on the class status, practice of customs, and I appreciate the sense of humor in hardcore times of status and appearance.
Looking at who you are and who you want to be and all the entangles in that journey.

This was hilarious, I need to see it put on somewhere. Wilde is so clever in his word-play, creating funny and satirical paradoxes and dramatics that critique the society he was clearly a part of. I love how dramatic all of the characters were and how they constantly said things that were completely contradictory to their actions and repeat phrases that emphasized how silly their epigrams were.
As a person who desired to be in a circle of pompous intellectuals who sit and talk about the decline of society and culture, I really enjoyed Wilde’s perspective on this and one that I emulate in way. These people are so performative and out-of-touch, and while Wilde may enjoy running in these circles because, he is able to see through it. The title emphasizes how often these people try to embody traits and personalities that don’t actually correlate with who they are: being Ernest granted the men access to women and upper society without actually being “earnest” , the opposite actually.
This was awesome.

fun and fast. not without some misogyny and a pinch of incest, can’t skip that.
jack and algy are brotherly brothers from the start, it’s so funny to watch them.

the 2002 movie complements the book perfectly, though there are a few changes.
