Oh man there’s just so much here I could talk about. This was quite an epic and I’m glad I read it even though many aspects don’t hold up well to a modern audience, the basic story does. Despite the length I was consistently intrigued. I couldn’t get past
the way the protagonist groomed his child slave and was still supposed to be a paragon of virtue
but this is truly an impressive work and worth the read for those who enjoy classics

Strong 5. A genuine masterpiece. The Count of Monte Cristo is an epic tale of betrayal, despair, revenge, and redemption. It’s one of the best stories I’ve ever read. Despite being around 1,300 pages (or 44 hours on audio), it never dragged for me. Every twist, every character arc, every moment felt intentional and rewarding.

This is the longest book I’ve ever finished. I looked forward to it every time I picked it up. Dumas did an incredible job weaving together a massive, emotional, satisfying story that still feels relevant and interesting today.

It’s officially one of my favorite books now. It’s a classic for a reason.

Outstanding. Glad I finally read it.
Not for everyone, but I thought it was very entertaining.

Loved the first half, disliked the second half.

Incredibly, ridiculously long for any modern reader, of course. It took me even longer to finish this behemoth than I expected. But an iconic, intricately woven tale! Clever hijinks, adventures, satisfying characters, and so much to say about justice and corruption.

It’s very good and it’s very long.
