Seems like this is all set up for future stories.

I think this one read pretty darn good! I'm a sucker for a good non-American superhero team, and here are several! Also, the Primordial Avengers really scratches my prehistory itch. And yet... Sometimes fine, often awful, the artwork almost dragged the score down a star for me. But then, you know what they say about opinions!

A little disappointing after a good first volume. It lays a whole lot of foundations for future stories. There’s a vampire civil war brewing in Transylvania, Namor is causing trouble from Atlantis, the Russian superhuman team is butting heads with the Avengers, and the USA puts together the Squadron Supreme, a Justice League analogue I was delighted to see again, headlined by Hyperion. But a story arc should stand on its own and there’s no plot here.

Yikes. What a steep drop in quality from volume 1. Practically unreadable. So disappointed.

Collects Avengers (2018) 7-12

An okay and overly convoluted Avengers story. The last few issues hooked me enough to continue to volume three.

Do you like super-teams? Is it not enough for you to focus on a core assemblage of heavyweights? Do you want heroes and villains pouring off the pages? Then this volume (by Aaron and various artists) is for you. You get the Avengers (of course), but also 1) the Defenders of the Deep (led by Namor as he fights the surface world), 2) the Winter Guard (the Russian super team), 3) the Squadron Supreme of America, and 4) the Agents of Wakanda (an intel gathering team meant to support the Avengers). Oh, and there's a meeting of international superheroes talking with Black Panther about best steps to combat all the growing problems.

It was too much for me, but I gather Aaron is having a ton of fun.
