What an end to the trilogy. The peril built and built and built and it was unputdownable for me. I have quibbles about the audiobook narrator's pronunciation of certain words and some continuity errors on the part of the author and editor(s) as well as, per usual, women-written-by-men moments, but overall was totally engrossed in the world of Nate, Dominika, and their supporting cast.

As with the other Jason Matthews books, 4.5 for spy craft and local color, 2.0 for eye-rolling 70’s soft porn-style sex scenes (nipples called “shipyard rivets”)—which I was able to mainly ignore through the audiobooks “fast advance” feature and fascination with recipes. Can’t imagine any LeCarre fan saying, “Sure wish this had more swearing and soft porn and recipes” but maybe that’s just me. Recommended with reservations.
