My god is this book adorable. First book in a while that I couldn’t put down. It was delightful, charming, beautiful, and predictable, yet unexpected in how I thought things would play out. I can for sure see this rom com being made into a feature film.

Jack and Pepper are very relatable and fleshed out, getting into scenarios I found a bit of common ground with, even though I'm well passed my teenage years. Like keeping the peace and trying not to take sides in a family feud or discovering that your perspective of a disagreement isn't the only one (or necessarily the right one.) Their banter kept a smile on my face through a good majority of the book. The other parts either left me completely in shock as bits of their story unraveled or with a semi broken heart. No matter the emotion, there wasn't a part where I felt bored or skimmed just to get through.

I found myself struggling with a part of the layout, like when Jack and Pepper communicate via text. I read an uncorrected digital copy thanks to St Martin's Press and Net Galley, but I imagine it'll be cleared up once the book is released. I also felt that some parts were too wholesome and G Rated, like the "antics" of Senior Skip Day and the depiction of NYC in general, with generic YA conflicts, like the classic miscommunication trope that seems to end a relationship before they decide that’s what it is, and one part that seemed unnecessary, like
Spoiler the whole twist of Jack's dad dated Pepper's mom for a spell and it ended poorly and THAT'S why this whole Twitter war got started. Like really??!
but it’s all minor stuff that doesn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book. It’s one I’ll be picking up when it’s released and I suggest you do the same.

funny lighthearted fast-paced

probably the cutest book i've read in all of 2020 so far??? my HEART. ugh. also no one warned me that i would be projecting on an overachieving, type a, wants to make her family proud, child of divorced parents. i wish there was more in the epilogue? it felt very nicely wrapped up, but also like i was sort of left hanging but this was overall just so fluffy and cute and what i needed to read in the middle of a pandemic !

very cute and fun right from the beginning, the ending wasn’t the strongest of endings but i’m glad it tied up the loose ends. unlike some books that try to be relatable, i actually get the references in this book (and i have the vague suspicion that emma lord is a riverdale fan?) this book also reminds me of simon vs the homo sapiens agenda because the similarities.

(also can we appreciate the cover? wednesday books always have the best covers periodt.)

It was too much for me?

znajdźcie mi takiego Jacka pls

was okay-ish.

This book was so incredibly cute and as excited as I was to finish it, I dreaded the story ending even more. I would love to find out what Pepper and Jack are up to now—beyond the epilogue.

The characters were so very lovable, the enemies to lovers trope/You’ve Got Mail plot was so adorable, and I can’t stop thinking about monster cake and kitchen sink macaroons!

If you are looking for a sugary sweet that hits the spot, this one is it!

Cute story about a Twitter War between two competing New York fast food restaurants/delis. It all started with some typical high school hijinks but ended up exposing a lot of family secrets and animosity. Of course, there was also a love story between some of the teenagers, so that was pretty cute. Would recommend to tween girls.
