This book was incredibly sweet and definitely very cheesy. It was exactly what I needed cause I’m in a reading slump at the moment and this book was so easy to read that I actually finished it in a few days (which is pretty quick for me at the current moment). I was a bit scared going into this because it is YA and I don’t really love YA books and often find them boring, but this one wasn’t boring at all and if anything I loved that there was absolutely no spice. This book wasn’t really anything special but it was definitely very cute and it’s worth a read if you just want a quick and fun YA romance.

Cute book, the romance was cute but deffo not enemies to lovers- more friends to lovers. The Taylor swift references were cute though.

Props to Emma Lord for writing such a good debut, this was hilarious and adorable and everything I didn’t know I could get from a YA contemporary. I felt like I was aging out of the YA romance audience after reading some really cringy ones but this. was. so. cute. The “Gen Z” humour was executed perfectly without trying too hard, and yes I did roll my eyes a bit, but I also laughed so hard too.

This story follows Pepper, a chronic overachiever who does everything to keep her Mom happy especially when it comes to their burger chain. There are splits POVs with Jack, an aspiring app developer who is struggling to live in the shadows of his “golden twin” and doesn’t want to take over the family business. Add a bit of rivals to lovers in the mix and stir.

Very cute book but I feel so bad for the kids involved because those parents SUCK. Especially Pepper’s mom.
