3.9 AVERAGE

I liked this one less than the first book in the series. I still hate these titles, but Maya Banks knows what she's doing with medievals. Even if I don't like when one of the main characters are engaged to someone else. Which is why it took me ages to get to this book. Because truthfully, I'm dying to read Rionna's story. But the characters in here definitely hooked me, and I was really hoping that things would work out for them.

I absolutely loved the heroine, Keeley. Kicked out of her clan for something she had no control over, I immediately was sympathetic toward her. Especially since she didn't just feel sorry for herself. No, Keeley became a healer and was able to support herself through her work. Add to all this the fact that Keely was stubborn, witty, and had great inner strength, and I just loved her right away.

I also loved the hero, Alaric. He was loyal to his brothers, even when it costed him the woman he loved. But Alaric was fierce and strong. I loved that he was patient too. I liked Keeley a bit more, but I liked the two as a couple.

I'm really excited to see how Caelen, the third McCabe brother, changes in his book. Given what happened in his past and the events at the end of this book, things will be very interesting for him. I really hope some of his ideas change, but we really got to see how caring Caelen can be in this book. His respect is hard to earn, but once he gives it, he won't take it back. Rionna, too, was explored in here. I still can't wait to see what happens to her in the next book, but I liked seeing a more human side to go along with her warrior persona. Finally, I just loved revisiting the McCabe clan again. Ewan and Mairin made great side characters, and I especially loved Mairin's taking in Keeley. Plus, she stands up to Ewan. And Gannon! Christina! Maddie!!! All such lovable side characters! I could read about this clan for forever. Oh, and I hate Laird McDonald. So much.

The plot of this book was pretty angsty. One day while in her cottage on the edge of McDonald land, Alaric's horse brought him to her door. Ambushed and injured in battle, Alaric desperately needed Keeley's help, which of course she gave. The book got exciting when Ewan and Caelen came and took her to MCCabe Keep, despite her protests, so that she could heal Alaric and help Mairin give birth to her child. Now, I know that doesn't sound like a good thing. But never did Ewan have bad intentions towards Keeley. Never did a McCabe clansman hurt her, even though she was unsure of her place. Plus, she ultimately feels as if she belongs there, and the McCabes treated her tons better than her former clan, the McDonalds. Anyway, once at the McCabe Keep Keeley tends to Alaric. After he recovered, they really started to develop feelings for each other, all while knowing that he was engaged to someone else. And the fact that that someone else was Keeley's former best friend Rionna McDonald just made things worse. It was definitely sad, and I felt sorry for the two of them. But they showed remarkable strength and loyalty when neither refused to forgo the promised marriage. My complaints about this book are that it took far too long for the two to find a way to be together. And that's not a spoiler, because it's a romance and of course there's a HEA. I just wish we could have gotten to see the two actually together. Plus, there was some over-the-top dialogue and some bad word choices.

All in all, though, I really do like Maya Banks' highlander stories. They're perfect escape reads, and the writing style immediately hooks me. I want to read book three soon, because this one ended in such a crazy way. Keeley and Alaric made great main characters, and their story was just so emotional. I really did like it, and I do recommend this book if you've read book one in the series. Just don't be put off by the title.

Ewan McCabe berhasil mendapatkan tanah Naim Alemnh.

Lha...gimana nasib Rionna dong?? Itu bagian buku ketiga :D

   | During this pandemic, it is good to have a cheesy, lazy, hot sex kind of romance. The book that I can just read without thinking or guessing too much. Just go with the flow. And that's ia what I get from Miss Banks.

Seduction of Highland Lass is a beach read romance. A lazy day romance. And interlude after a heavy reading. Since I can not go to the beach, I listen to this audiobook while lounging on my sofa.

I enlist the next book, because I know down the line, I need another story like this.

Freaking loved his book!!! One of the first books to make me cry in months!!

3.5 Stars

Honor is a tricky thing, if you are truly willing to hold onto yours you may just be giving up the only thing worth keeping.

Alaric is the middle brother, and middle brothers had nothing. No land of their own, no people to take care of, no title to pass onto their children. Combine all of that and the fact that if he marries their neighbors daughter he helps keep his family and people safe how could he do anything but be honorable.

Keeley has been wronged and outcast. The last thing she would see coming is a wounded highlander (who she can’t help but fall for even on his sick bed) and the rest of his clan collecting him and her at the same time. Lets face it, handsome cut highlander laying there eating you up with his eyes....didn’t think you could resist either. Alaric and Keeley’s story is doomed and tears at your heart. The heat they share and the trust they give each other is beautiful.

You will also get to know the third brother, Caelen. Cold and standoffish no longer, Caelen has crawled under our skin. Good thing we don’t have to wait long to hear of his fate.

Ugh I LOVED IT I LOVED IT I LOVED IT

3 1/2
You could see what the answer is a mile away yet it is drawn out. Didn't like how them getting together was really left to chance
Spoiler and the fact that she gets shot with an arrow at the wedding that would've separated them for good.
it was just too much. Still it is made up for when in the end it was truly their choice.
