such a good book that would be made even better if the world was fleshed out a little more. More description of the bots/gods and more explanation of how this world came to be/functions. Also too many plot surprises dropped casually through character reflection.

I find the story very flat. Though the blurb is enticing, I found the characters quite bland...though I liked Sona, but not enough to power through.
The world didn't grab me, I felt no mood or emotion. I got to the bit where the main duo meet and come up with a plan, and I'm sorry...but there's no chemistry here. The whole being captured and ending up working with the enemy was rushed. And the background characters were one note at best.

I feel really bad...I want to carry on and maybe I'll pick it up in the future and disagree completely with my thoughts today. But I'm afraid the Gearbreakers have won and I must retreat.
