I'm going to be incredibly sad when this series ends. I love every character. Always sad when a story end. The narration continues to be absolutely stellar as well. This story was a bit slow to start and jumps around a bit, but still ended up really engaged and drawn into these newest chapters of the characters' journeys.
It felt like too much of a departure from the previous books that I had to go away and come back. But wow. Glad I came back fresh. Marco was too well written… the understanding of that psyche. I love all these other characters in their flawed was overwhelmed by personal circumstance while we get the benefit of a broader picture. Holden is sufferable bc his povs are no more often that other characters’. Why did I love Joseph so much from so little page space??

If you were disappointed with the last book's ending, but heartened at the end promise of alien worlds/technology in the following book, you're going to be phenomenally disappointed with Babylon's Ashes.
It's entirely about the war with Marcus and the belters. The book starts out pretty good, falters in the middle, then ends in a classic "ghost in the machine" twist with no real resolution. Just like the other books, it ends on a cliffhanger, promising something more exciting and interesting in the next book. This is a good place to end the series if (like myself) you find yourself growing less interested in the direction the author is taking this series.
