If you were disappointed with the last book's ending, but heartened at the end promise of alien worlds/technology in the following book, you're going to be phenomenally disappointed with Babylon's Ashes.
It's entirely about the war with Marcus and the belters. The book starts out pretty good, falters in the middle, then ends in a classic "ghost in the machine" twist with no real resolution. Just like the other books, it ends on a cliffhanger, promising something more exciting and interesting in the next book. This is a good place to end the series if (like myself) you find yourself growing less interested in the direction the author is taking this series.

This got me in the feels a couple of times, but it wasn’t quite as good as the first 5. The ending was a bit abrupt for me. Still very much on board for the next 3. This part of the story is necessarily dark & melancholy.
"History itself was a massive N =1 study, irreproducible"
Book 6 of 9 down the hatch.
The fact is, this 530 page event could have been condensed and glued on to the last book. It would have nicely wrapped up the previous trials and tribulations of Holden and his crew.
I'm a sucker for it though..
