Liked it, didn’t love it. I enjoy Florence’s writing style and the Black Mirrorish take on social media, the potential is there it’s just missing something.
It felt as if she had two half-baked ideas for the book and crammed them into one rather than taking the time to fully develop each on its own. It merely scratched the surface of two promising plot lines and left interesting characters feeling pretty one dimensional.
The second half quickly took a dark turn, only to end just as abruptly with an anticlimactic denouement that left too many loose ends.

This was a quick and easy read, nothing particularly wrong with it, although I think it was marketed incorrectly. This book sounds like a sci-fi, reading the blurb, I would disagree with that classification as it felt more like LGBTQIA + contemplative fiction. I would consider it more sci-fi if we had learned more about Olympia, wonderland and the wider world. I think this book could have been great if everything was far more fleshed out. I think the multiple concepts would have been easier to balance in a series rather than a stand alone. Especially due to the fact that there were multiple characters that just felt so one-dimensional that really could have benefitted from more detail. Overall this ended up just being okay for me.
