I was in the mood for a MM cop story for some reason and this satisfied it perfectly (bonus for being satisfyingly British as well). I had some issues with actions the characters took (mainly how unconcerned and blasé Eli was about his pervy customer at the restaurant). Cute dogs (the main one Zeus is a grey and white Staffordshire terrier). There's a warning in the intro that there is violence against animals in the book. There definitely was and more than I expected, so heed that warning.

Quotes:
The funny thing about people was when they saw that strong jaw they always assumed he was fierce, but in truth, he was a total pussycat, more so with me than anyone else. Staffies had a bad rep for being fighting dogs, but they learned the behaviour from humans.

A lot of people thought I was wasting my time at Muddy Paws, that the dogs would be better off being put down. Sometimes I thought the world would be better off putting some humans down instead.
