1984 is infuriating. While it is not a 1:1 match, there are parallels to our world that make you want to scream and fall into depression. Power for powers sake corrupts absolutely.  Would recommend if you want a deep dive into societal coercion by fear. It wasn't an enjoyable read but It makes you reflect and engage with the ideas.

This book is an amazing work of art and I think it is important for everyone to read it, however it was quite difficult to get through and very difficult emotionally.

Extremely depressing, although I’m glad to have read it to understand what people are talking about when they refer to 1984. Slow paced and drags especially in part one. I did not enjoy how the female characters were written.
