I very rarely read graphic novels, but this is one I would read more of. I have to admit that Daphne -- a bi/pan Jewish woman -- wasn't necessarily the best protagonist I've ever read. She was rather bland, kind of like the typical 'I'm not like other girls' girl you see who takes on other people's personality traits and refuses to acknowledge her wealth or privilege. However, I did love her interactions with the ghosts and I feel like she's probably going to learn a lot about herself throughout the series.
The artwork, though... That's something else entirely. The colour palettes are gorgeous and I loved seeing the histories of some of the ghosts. Lots of LGBT rep in here which is a bonus! The ending was a little weak for me, although I can see some avenues that the story would take with it.

This story brings a whole new meaning to the term "Ghosted". I love getting to know all of the side characters, but hopefully, we will get more main character development in the upcoming issues. I will definitely continue reading this series as it comes out.

Ahhhhh! THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL WAS SO ADORABLE OMGGGGG! Okay, so I don’t normally read graphic novels. They just aren’t really my thing, I guess? But I am SO GLAD I ended up requesting this one from Netgalley. I loved it!
The story follows Daphne, who moved to LA with her boyfriend. Only to be dumped. She is wandering around LA one night, and comes across this beautiful house. The only downside is it is filled with ghosts. THey agree to let her live there, as long as she brings no other humans to the house. Of course, things go awry!
I loved seeing all the backstories of the ghosts that live in the home. We only saw three in the first collection, but they were so interesting! It was a perfect mix of past and present.
The art in this book is amazing! I love the illustrations and coloring. It really brought the story to life. When I read graphic novels, I usually just focus on the words and skim over the pictures, but this one I found myself gazing at the art and how great it was! Plus, Daphne had THE BEST style. Like, I want her closet for myself. I was drooling over those outfits!
I would recommend Ghosted in LA to anyone who loves a fun contemporary. I would usually pass since it’s a graphic novel, but I am SO GLAD I didn’t! I can’t wait for Volume 2!

e-ARC received from NetGalley. The premise sounded super interesting and the art was decent, but I felt like Daphne (the main character) and the story were just random and a little all over the place at times. One character turns out to be gay, which almost seemed like it was thrown in as a shock factor, but other than bonding with a ghost who was also gay, it didn’t really add anything to the reading experience or plot.
So, we meet the lead girl, Daphne, and her best friend in Missoula, Montana; they are saying goodbye because Daphne is leaving for college. But they get in a fight when her friend says she shouldn't go to college in L.A. just because her boyfriend goes there. From there we follow Daphne to L.A. and things seem alright as first but when things get heard she sets out to explore the city and ends up coming upon a hunted manor called Rycroft Manor and meets real ghosts. This is a story of starting to find out who you are, (Seeing as it's Vol 1, most self-discovery to come. At less I hope.) I enjoyed this book, I wasn't crazy about every character but there were some characters I did like and can't wait to learn more about them latter. The story had a plot, but to me, this is more a character-driven story. The art was my favorite part of this graphic novel, I like the color choices, how it shows the characters feelings is well done. Overall, I did like this story and I am willing to give Vol 2 a try.
The artwork is phenomenal! I really loved every frame. Unfortunately, the main character is obnoxious and unlikeable. She's petty, flighty, and unbelievably naïve. It's clear she's having an identity crisis, but her flippant attitude kept me from caring about her problems. She's also a sucky friend, childish, and way to willing to move in with ghosts she knows nothing about. Hard pass.
