After not loving the first Greek myth retelling I read a couple of months ago, I was unsure of how much I would enjoy this but, it surpassed all my expectations. This story is beautifully written and really takes you into the world. It doesn’t info dump but provides enough details and context to make the story understandable for someone with little knowledge in the area. I loved Circe and was so drawn into the plot. I will definitely be picking up song of Achilles next!

This is an interesting book for me to review. It’s written well and if you like Greek mythology and long prose-y language, you’ll love it. For me, it felt pretty long and I got kind of bored. I didn’t feel like there was really a climax and there were a lot of characters I feel like I was supposed to know more of but didn’t. I would have liked the last 15% of the book to be half of the book, but alas.

The book is extremely well written but I’m not sure Greek mythology is my genre. Everything felt so hopeless the whole time. I really liked our main character’s insights but there were just so many pangs of pain for her and the ending didn’t quite give me enough relief from them.
