Although Carrie was probably the last Sinclair I expected to read an entire book about, I really enjoyed it. It was a quick read and I appreciate that the writing style and storytelling does not stray from that of We Were Liars. I thought the characters were well developed and realistic; they are incredibly flawed but only doing what they think is best. It was interesting having a backstory on especially Penny. The thing I wished for this book that would have made it more emotionally impactful was fleshing out Rosemary’s character more, specifically

before her death. This would’ve made the flashbacks mean a lot more to the reader.

I also wish this had the back and forth between flashbacks and present day that We Were Liars had because it kept the story engaging. Aside from that, this was a pretty good read.

Even though this is considered a “prequel” you need to read “we were liars” before reading this book. Similar to the other book, I wouldn't say that I particularly enjoyed this book, but I was slightly intrigued. I also wouldn’t say this this book was as shocking of a plot twist as the first one. The author wrote in the bonus material of the first book that she would rather make a reader angry/upset and throw the book across the room than bore them, which makes so much sense. Although, her book, “genuine fraud” was quite boring. Anyways, I might read any future books in this series out of curiosity but I wouldn’t say that I particularly recommend or enjoy this book very much.

Better than we were liars, but still average.
In this book we follow teenage Carries adventures in Beechwood.
Way to many unnecessary charcters. For example Major was soo irrelevant for the plot.
The author though putting lgbtq charcters in this book was a good idea, but it felt very forced.
Although the vibe is similar to we were liars, I think family of liars is more complex and didn’t have the expectations for a huge plot twist.
Some parts were interesting, others completely boring.
Great book to read in the summertime on the beach.

I didn't like this one as much as We Were Liars. The MCs were mostly unlikable and the supernatural element was weird and unnecessary. It was still a good book but nowhere near as good as the first.
