I absolutely love Mary Kubica, but this book was not my favorite of hers. That being said, I did enjoy it for the most part.
The first half of this book was a little bit slow for me, but once I got to the midway point I was fully invested. I found myself not wanting to walk away from it because the suspense was so intense but the story became predictable toward the end. The twists were pretty good, but like I said, predictable. The very very end did throw me for a loop, however.
I felt like this story needed at least one chapter, or even just a little excerpt that was from Lily’s perspective. I felt like I wasn’t able to see the full picture with the limited narrative.
Also, there are some unanswered questions about Ryan that I’m assuming we’ll never get. Why leave breadcrumbs that don’t lead anywhere?
Brittany Pressley narrated and she did great, as always.
Overall, this is a pretty good domestic thriller, but this is not Kubica’s best book in my opinion.
