This book is probably one of my many favourite biographies!

Even for a non-fan of Nirvana or the grunge movement in general as myself, this book was an absolute pleasure to read. A great work of research and an amazing well documented narrative of one of undeniably great composer/bands of our time.

what a fantastic read! i loved this. such a heartbreaking stroy, yet interesting from start to finish.

one thing i did not like was how the author wrote of cobain's suicide. so many details! how could he know??? nobody was there!! it felt like he just guessed what happened in the moment like how could he know the last moments, when he wrote his suicide note, how he felt, his exacts moves etc, NOBODY WAS THERE! just write what you know what happened, don't put weird details like “He sat thinking about these things for many minutes.” how could you know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“He grabbed the note from his pocket. There was still a little room on it. He laid it on the linoleum floor. He had to write in larger letters, which weren’t as straight, because of the surface he was on. He managed to scratch out a few more words”
how could you know when he wrote which parts!?? you cannot!

“He put his works away, floating faster and faster, feeling his breathing slow. He had to hurry now: Everything was becoming hazy”
it felt like the author was just trying to be poetic or something or to show off his writing skills or whatever just shut up and tell the story from what you know?? don't imagine things for the sake of a good story?!

the author took a lot of liberty in writing these last moments and it almost feels like he treats kurt as a fictional character which is gross.

anyways. apart from that, you can tell there's been a lot of research for this book which is amazing!!

Really well worded, powerful and personal. Gives you a look into his life as if you were there. The beauty, the ugly, all of it.

3.5 The main reason I didn't give this story a 4 stems from my having a hard time following all the names the author gives the reader. Sometimes I had trouble following who was who and their relationship to Cobain. Not knowing Nirvana at all, I found myself fascinated by Kurt Cobain's story regardless. The devastation of his parents' divorce as a young boy truly was the beginning of the end for him. So sad.
