So I really like a good fantasy, paranormal or sci-fi story, but I often find that they're sub-par or I'm so confused by the author trying to introduce us to their world in 100 pages or less, that I lose interest. But when I find a good one, I'm hooked.
I wasn't sure for the first few chapters if I was going to like this one or not. But the writing was solid and the concepts well explained that I kept reading. I typically like a story with a dual point of view, but this one is told solely from Morgan's point a view; a little human in a world of fae and their gods. Bring in a few steaming hot scenes, entertaining banter and a growing mystery to solve for the perfect combination. Be warned, this one ends with a major cliff hanger so I'll have to wait until book two for the rest of the story.

giving an extra star for having Zahak <3 minus four stars for making me climb up mount everest to get to the main conflict and then just ending the story there. i can't believe it took 190 pages to get interesting.
i felt like it was finally reaching it's potential when the MC enrolled into fae university (in the final quarter of the book). i thought we would finally get adequate world building and lore on all the different kinds of fae that live there. but no, it was glazed over in favor of introducing a love triangle :eyeroll_emoji: and then boom, war starts. but actually it doesn't because that's where book one is over.
i really wanted to like this book but it was a tough read. very slow start, fanfic-like dialogue, MC and the love interest interact like six times, spicy bits weren't even that spicy.
overall just underwhelming considering the hype it got on booktok.

I received this digital ARC from the Author for an honest review.
Whoooweee! I am so glad that I got this book!!! If you love bossy dragon Gods, bookish female lead, steamy smexy times and a "fairyland" then go pre-order this straight away!
Morgan and her best friend Lexie are living their best lives. Both are avid readers / book lovers working their dream job at a Private Library. Although there are some unusual rules, they absolutely love it...until one night Morgan gets a call to say that a rare book is missing... when Morgan decides after a drunken night out to go investigate to see where this book might be, little does she know that her whole world is about to be turned upside down and she is going to be living a life similar to one of her books.
I love Morgan, she makes me laugh so much. She has very real reactions which is almost what you would expect from a Fantasy book lover... I love her friendship with Lexie. Their bond and support for each other is like true sisterhood. Lord Drager, I am not so keen on... he is just way too distant for my liking. But I am totally loving the plot twists and the touch her die moments.
But if you love Jaymin Eve's books then you will love this one. I cannot wait for book 2!!

Jaymin eve never disappoints. This book is 10/10 I JUST finished it and I'm already itching for more! Come on 2024!!
3.5 stars
Morgan was an almost perfect FMC. Backstory but not a victim. Rose to challenges and open to her adventure. I really liked the Lexie + Morgan best friend dynamic.
And I totally bought into this fantasy world.

Okay. So it started out rough, but the end was exciting. Easy to read, but dragged in places. I'm anxious to read the second one.

I love the map at the beginning of the book. So I don’t love that this is mostly from her POV, and we don’t even get her name immediately. In chapter 6, we can finally get a name for the character: she is Morgan. Morgan is a librarian at the Dragerfield Library. She and her best friend Lexie work at this strange library in Maine. It seems to house otherworldly books and more. She is very human but loves her job and her life.
One night, her world changes as she ends up at the mysterious library in the middle of the night. Turns out her bestie isn’t who she thinks she is. But I’m more fascinated with Drager, the Sun God. Omg, the fact that her bestie is a paranormal and the library is a portal to a Faerie world is remarkable.
Somehow, her circumstances get even more bizarre with now a faerie fertility event in the library on Earth and, of course, the God of the Sun as her unexpected partner. This story gets hot and steamy. And I’m wondering what now?
I’m enjoying the fantasy parts of this story in the other world. Drager is possessive and Alpha, but he finally agrees to Morgan learning something important. She gets sent to learn about Faerie at the neutral academy. This should be intriguing; her humanity is still coming into play. Her time at the academy, learning curve, and new experiences are fascinating. Also, her connection to the fallen.
Ah, this book ends on an adventurous cliffhanger. Of course, Morgan in this fantasy land of Dragons and fallen gods is captivating. I definitely want to read more in this series.
