I have never read anything to this calibre of a book or series. The conclusion of the series saw every single little detail throughout the previous 7 books all come together in an awe inspiring way. The stakes were so high because it was building for 7 books. It left me heartbroken but not devastated, which I appreciated. The range of emotions I felt even from sentence to sentence was like climbing the highest mountain then being plunged to the depths of the ocean. The entirety of the plot was so in depth and well paced. The writing was stunning. Even though it was almost 1000 pages I could have kept reading. It’s going to be difficult to just move on to another book after this.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to say everything I want to say about this book and this series. After reading ACOTAR, I came into this expecting one thing and received something so much better than I could've imagined. This book was the perfect wrap up for this series. SJM did an excellent job of giving everyone the ending that they deserved, and making every character redeemable in the process (minus the turbo bad ones but you get my drift).
Coming off the tandem read I did have to readjust to one singular source of everyone's stories. The bouncing between characters/journeys felt so much more cohesive in this book than it did in Heir of Fire. I'm not sure if that was because it was written all that differently, or if I came into this story with 7 books of information. Either way, I enjoyed getting to experience everyone's distinct POVs. The worry, care, and determination of each subgroup was palpable and it made me connect even more to characters I already felt connected to.
I would read an entire series about the little folk. The same goes for Yrene and Chaol. And Manon. Just release spinoffs for everyone SJM.
I think that everyone going their separate ways makes sense because they all had independent lives before this, but it made me so sad to imagine them all going through all of this together and then just having to ride off into their respective sunsets. Heartbreaking literature.
I'm not sure how to come off of the commitment of this series and read anything else. I didn't expect to dislike the series but I also didn't expect to love it as much as I did and I'm fearful the void may never be satisfied.
I entered a TTPD phase when reading this and in Clara Bow she says "the crown is stained but you're the real queen, Flesh and blood amongst war machines, You're the new god we're worshipping, Promise to be ... dazzling" like ok this is about Aelin can we all agree? Or maybe it's about Yrene? or Manon? or Elide? all of them. They're all queens. The future of Erilea is dazzling.
Will be crying and staring at the wall until further notice.

I found the ending of this book/series very satisfying. I'm not sure if that's a room temp take or not, but I felt like she did a really great job of tying up everyone's ends and providing closure for essentially every hurdle the team came across. I thought that the way Maeve and Erawan were dealt with was commensurate to their power and influence throughout the book. It wasn't took fast or too slow, and I liked that it didn't fall on Aelin to deal with both of those problems alone. The pain that SJM was able to portray through words when the 13 performed the Yielding for Manon's brighter future was actually insane and I did cry. I love the redemption arc that all of the witches went on, together. I think it was a beautiful story of what it truly means to have a friend and be a friend. An isolated example of what I felt was a major theme throughout the book.I think that everyone going their separate ways makes sense because they all had independent lives before this, but it made me so sad to imagine them all going through all of this together and then just having to ride off into their respective sunsets. Heartbreaking literature.

Great to see all stories coming together, Elide, Manon and Dorian with Cochrans, Choal and Yrene and offcourse the court.
The cruelties Cairn performs are too much for me. Luckily having read 25% of the book, Aelin is freed. With a great role for Fenrys.
After help of the Little Folk it's out to war which is a very lengthy part of the book. I do like the great role the witches play and offcourse Manon and Dorian.
The part of traveling and war is another lengthy part of the book.
Oh yeah and sealing the wyrdstones and the destruction of Erawan and Maeve is offcourse also part of the book.
At page 910 I really considered stopping reading. Read through the chapter quickly afterwards and picked up reading after that, I did finish the book.
In all, a nice book, but could be reduced to half its size in pages. Next to that I don't get the imaginations Maeve imprinted in Aelins mind and are described. It only leads to haziness and brings nothing extra from my opinion. So I rate it a 4-.

A truly masterful series. Trying to figure out what to live for now that’s it’s over
