This was another fun adventure through the secret underground tunnels of Miss Brickett's detective agency!

Though we didn't get the background and detail of Marion's relationship with her mother and grandmother that I was hoping for after reading the first book, I still really liked this addition and appreciated the little character touches made throughout. Marion gets some nice subtle development again, and I really just enjoy her style—she's definitely someone I would want to be friends with. I like her relationship with Bill a lot, probably because it does get the most attention. I'm still wanting to know more about some of the side characters (give me more Jessica and Maud please), so I'm hoping for more books in this series in the future.

As for the plot, I kept changing my mind if I thought the mystery villain was going to go the obvious route or if it would end up surprising me—so when it was revealed I hadn't settled on one or the other so got surprised regardless haha. The tension definitely built through the whole story, and I think I liked this mystery better than the first.

For all you mystery lovers—don't pass on Marion Lane!
