Marion Lane and the Deadly Rose by T.A. Willberg

"How can anything go back to normal when Miss Brickett's is full of liars and con artists?" This is a second internal investigation at Miss Brickett's Detective Agency; I hope the agency has more external investigations we don't hear about or I wonder how they stay in business. Also, how do the brightest detectives not notice the spies in their midst? This story continues the community of misfits who support Marion in her investigations and continues the Harry Potter parallels - the chambers below the agency seemed even more expansive than the chamber of secrets!

I really like the characters but I didn’t enjoy the internal conspiracy action that was happening in this one.

A fast-paced read and a lighthearted mystery. Atmospheric with ribbons of conspiracy mixed throughout. I enjoyed it but minus one star because I wanted to know more about what The Agency does above ground — not simply the investigation within. Some of the more dramatic parts felt rushed leaving me going back a few lines to re-read them.

I really enjoy the underground world that Willberg has created. I'm looking forward to more.

I absolutely love the Marion Lane series (so far)! This book held up my standards! There are so many twists and turns, betrayals and heartbreak…I didn’t want to stop listening.

Also, I love a good mafia story and this book gives you hints of it with The Florist.
