Look. I know I said it before, but I’m going to say it again: THIS one is my favorite book of the series! Benedict has been my favorite brother since the first season and this book did not disappoint!

All the siblings are present but it’s so nice to see Benedict shine. It was so sweet to see him open up about his role in his family and his desires to be known as something other than “Bridgerton Number 2”. And I absolutely adored seeing him fall first; it felt like a very “Benedict” thing to happen.

Sophie Beckett is a force to be reckoned with and a perfect match for Benedict. She is fierce, strong willed, and very much so her own person, regardless of her social standing. She is quick witted (like the rest of the Bridgerton women) and not afraid to have her own thoughts. Her story is touching and heartbreaking and you can’t help but love her yourself.

I can’t swoon enough about Benedict and this book. I finished it in two days and have been talking myself out of devouring the rest of the series for fear of total obsession. I’ve got a LOT to say about the second season of Bridgerton and the fact that they’re pushing Colin’s season up, but I can only hope that when they get to Benedict’s story, it’s done as well as it’s written in this book.

Talk about frustrating. There's a reason the original Cinderella folk tale is max 20 pages long — it's a short story. It doesn't need to be dragged out to these ridiculous lengths by making the "prince" more despicable and the "cinderella" more oh-i-can't-tell-anyone-my-situation-because-i'm-so-unlovable. Sure, Sophie was actually a pretty nice character overall, but you can tell even Quinn didn't know how to explain away her inability to just tell Benedict who she was. Honestly, I almost put the book down over the initial magical chapters — Benedict's "oh, i just have a magical ability to know things...like my true love...even though this will never come up again" was oh my goodness so annoying. Just...ridiculous. I don't even know why I'm still reading these books. I guess they are a bit fluffy and easy, which makes them fun to fly through? But they're also largely forgettable, except for the problematic portions. So, in a word, yikes.
