LOVED this book. Devoured it in a day. Thought the story was unique, loved the characters (although Ben kinda sucked, still loved him) and touched on some topics of substance and importance.

Starts out as a Cinderella remake, which is fine. Then it turns into “man gets rejected and refuses to take no for an answer. Over and over and over.” Repetitive and overdramatized: every kiss is like no other kiss before, and at least three times she makes a reckless decision because “for once in her life she was going to do something wild and crazy.” Benedict goes from “be my mistress” to “you WILL be my mistress” to “I was going to ask you to marry me all along” real fast. And Sophie eats it up like a trope of a dumb romance heroine. Benedict has no compassion for Sophie’s struggle, or her desire never to become a mistress, until practically the very last page. This book was everything I hate about period romances.

I haven't exactly loved any of the Bridgerton books so far, but they're fast-paced reads that are great for whenever I'm in a reading slump, so I keep picking them up. This is my least favorite so far, with all the things I didn't like about the first two books have just been ramped up a thousand levels.

Benedict is awful and terrorizing, and I didn't find any of his actions romantic or justified at all, he just misuses his privileges and emotionally manipulates Sophie. At times he's agressive or almost violent. This book's only saving grace, is Lady Bridgerton's character.

I wouldn’t say this is my favorite Bridgerton book, but it was an enjoyable read that I read relatively quickly. I loved Sophie and Violet Bridgerton in this book. Everything else, I did not enjoy, including the male romantic lead, Benedict. I also think this book tries and point out the issues with class in this society and kind of fails at doing that.

Benedict is an absolute dickhead. The female anatomy in the book is completely bonkers. There is explicict fat shaming. Insta-love is a theme.
A fast, trashy read.

My least favourite of the Bridgerton books so far. Although I loved Sophie, I cannot get over how horrible and manipulating Benedict is.
Also, have we not seen enough retellings of Cinderella?

The redeeming factor of this book was being introduced to the other Bridgerton siblings. I enjoyed reading their parts of the book more than any part with Benedict.
