This has been my favorite Bridgerton book so far!! And maybe that’s partially because I just LOVE fairytale retellings, especially Cinderella ones (even though Disney’s animated Cinderella is not my favorite in the least). But also cause Benedict is officially my favorite (in the books atleast), book Anthony & Colin were very lacking, I love them in the show, but their book personalities had a lot of… I guess faults, that I was not a fan of. But Benedict… I don’t know what it is…but Benedict just stole my heart!
Especially the moment he realized he wanted to marry Sophie despite him thinking she was just a maid. He proved to be sweet & caring, and willing to say fuck society for this girl that he just couldn’t help but love!! It’s inspiring, and we all deserve a Benedict Bridgerton! 💜

Sophie's story is so sad, but this book is so good. I couldn't stop reading their love story. By far my favorite Bridgerton thus far!

I liked this book more than the first two in many different ways. The story was more original than the first two ‘we have to get married to preserve your honour’ drivel. I liked Sophie’s character and the backstory.

What I didn’t like was Benedict. There were so many moments where I was reading with my whole face screwed up in horror/disgust. He is constantly coercing and manipulating Sophie and there’s a definite dodgy moment about consent where he tells her she must withdraw consent now or not at all which really made me feel nauseous. I like this books overall but there’s definitely some questionable moments regarding sexual coercion in a few of the books. Puts me off them really.
