it was so cheesy!!!!!! but fun to read

I just wish romance novel authors would practice “don’t show, tell” instead of whatever the writing style they’re using is called

The Cinderella-like retelling made it a touch cliché but after a while I forgot that it started like that because the story had a different twist than the Cinderella stories do.
There was a point sometime in the middle where it got slow and I just felt like it needed to hurry up but then the entire last chapter I was wishing went forever.
All in all, I ended up loving it. I’m a sucker for clichés.
I’ve found a new favourite character in Posy. I want her to have her own book.

I loved this! There was a touch of Cinderella to it that was perfect and finally a Bridgerton boy tried to reel in his anger. Also the family teasing and the romantic teasing were just perfect.

Starts out as a Cinderella remake, which is fine. Then it turns into “man gets rejected and refuses to take no for an answer. Over and over and over.” Repetitive and overdramatized: every kiss is like no other kiss before, and at least three times she makes a reckless decision because “for once in her life she was going to do something wild and crazy.” Benedict goes from “be my mistress” to “you WILL be my mistress” to “I was going to ask you to marry me all along” real fast. And Sophie eats it up like a trope of a dumb romance heroine. Benedict has no compassion for Sophie’s struggle, or her desire never to become a mistress, until practically the very last page. This book was everything I hate about period romances.

Sophie's story is so sad, but this book is so good. I couldn't stop reading their love story. By far my favorite Bridgerton thus far!
