Y no sé, me supo a poco.

Seemed at first like a Enid Blyton story for grown ups and I am all in for that.
But I hated the way how degrading the other characters talked about Betty Kane, a 15 year old girl. How bad she was, and scheming and no wonder, how could it be different with her eye colour?! I am sorry, but this feels so wrong, judging people according to their bodily features. And the other minor female characters and the way the were shown and judged, I know this book is written be a female author, but I still think its pretty mysoginistic.
What threw me completly off, was towards the end, when it was said, that criminals basically should be send into labour-camps. This book didn't aged well at all. Would not recommend.

Quite a bit of unpalatable Daily Mail type thinking in this. Ok it’s 70 years old but still - rolled my eyes a lot.

Considering this was written in 1948- it explains the elements of the story that might seem politically incorrect, but it perfectly reflects the times.
Inspector Grant has only a small role. It’s more about the legal team working to uncover the truth.
