An extremely simple premise - cop show meets superhero reality - that turns out be to surprisingly fun and at times touching.

One if my favorite graphic novels, I wish it was a tv series so it would go on and on. Good mystery stories, great characters you really care about, and unbelievable background details in the illustrations--esp in volume 2.

Re-read in 2012.

Solid Moore. Stories from the Neopolis Police Dept.--a city of super-powered "science-heroes." More (no pun intended) comic in-jokes sprinkled throughout than I'm sure I was able to find.

A cool idea, and less Alan Moore-ish than I might have expected (whether this is a good or a bad thing dpeends on your views on Alan Moore I guess...)

QUICK PITCH: Law & Order: Superheroes.

VERDICT: You guys are going to think this is crazy, but Alan Moore has written a really great comic book.

Top Ten is a fantastic superhero comic from the post-Watchmen era. It's also a fantastic "cop show". Alan Moore perfectly mixes the funny and ridiculous with the dark and terrifying, and Gene Ha draws the whole thing with an attention to detail that's downright fanatical. It's amazing. You should read it.

This one's a true two-parter. Pair with [b:Top 10, Vol. 2|154929|Top 10, Vol. 2|Alan Moore|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1319824228s/154929.jpg|6191116]. Don't worry, though. Like those books, it deserves your time.

A fun counterpoint to Watchmen, where everyone has super powers of some sort. I think the mouse/cat crossover event might be my favourite detail but every issue has a clever twist on the genre.

I didn't love this, but I didn't hate it either. It's basically a super-powered parody of a real life precinct (or at least Alan Moore's imagining of a precinct.) There are minor side dramas, crimes to solve, aliens to bust, etc. etc. I never understood the main character's power (is it just that she has gadgets?) or why she was portrayed as so strangely childlike in such a rough setting. The aliases struck me as too silly to be serious. The crime stories were... mildly interesting. I can see how this would have gained a following, but it's not snagging me.
