my favorite book ever which i do not say lightly. i don't know if it's possible for me to put all of my thoughts about this book in a simple review, but i will say it absolutely changed my life in so many ways. i see so much of who i am in alex. the quote "He's [alex] starting to understand what swelled in his chest the first time he read about Stonewall, why he ached over the SCOTUS decision in 2015." gave me the words to describe how i felt about the 2015 decision before i knew i was queer for the first time in my life. i adore this book to bits & pieces

I wound up giving this book three stars because as much as I did wind up liking it, it took me quite a while to actually get into it. It started out pretty slow, and it wasn’t until around the middle of the book that I started to get into it.

possible spoilers?

okay i feel like people are taking themselves a little too seriously with the negative reviews ( from what i skimmed since i don't really care) because its idealistic and fluff? as if thats not the point of the book. its a fictional gay novel enemies to lovers, it isn't supposed to be an informative piece of literature. considering whats going on in the world, i loved this book as an escape. i read this after reading OLS , a favorite book of mine and mcquiston's other novel. and i must say, i love her writing style and the wattpad/YA feel of it all. i am an absolute sucker for an enemies to lovers and as a queer person, this just made my heart so happy. mcquiston write such lovable characters ( and i can't wait to see them on the big screen)!! before i get into the main characters, i love june and nora (and wish she would address the tension between them because i was waiting for that to happen.) ALEX - this chaotic bisexual! him being an aries, totally makes sense. i loved reading his character development and seeing him turn into this soft romantic. HENRY- as a lesbian, i fell in love with this soft pisces prince charming. i loved reading each of their character development, especially henry being not at all what alex thought he was. their stubborn, steamy, yearning dynamic - CHEFS KISS!! i was gripping my chest while reading because my heart could simply not take it. i was expecting STEAMY sex scenes because i read OLS, but i still was surprised when i was blushing so much. i absolutely adore alex and henry together, and can not wait to see them in the amazon movie. it was such an enjoyable read and i was filling the book with notes and highlighting parts that made my heart so warm. ( like their emails with the exerts from poetry GAHHH) but its the yearning that did it for me. okay so now casey needs to give us a sequel of them in their brooklyn brownstone living happily ever after. would also love a spinoff of nora and june falling in love

I would have rated this a little higher, but apparently presidential election fiction is awfully triggering for me.

i almost feel bad for giving this 3 stars not because this is a bad book at all no way but i guess this book just helped reiterate that i don’t like just straight up romance novels and that they are boring to me especially when things are generally going good for the whole book. just blah
