I’m not sure why I put this book off for so long. I originally saw it on KU but eventually bought it in store. If you’re thinking about picking this up and haven’t, do it. There is love, fighting, humor, and of course a little spice to get you heated. The world building is great, and you can envision yourself there with little problem. The magic system is fascinating with your different colored witches (blue, violet, red, brown) and the author really helps you envision the characters. The author truly brings the back story, magic system, and overall story to life without drowning it out with information that isn’t necessary.

The book follows two main characters Remy and Hale.

Remy is a red witch, one of the last few remaining due to the overthrow of the Northern King and Hale is a baster born son of the king of the east. The two come together for the goal of bringing the High Mountain Court back to its full strength to defeat the Northern King. In this process though they must obtain specific artifacts to bring the last remaining High Mountain Court Heir out of hiding.

Remy who has always hidden in the background must learn now to embrace her power and who she is to fulfil her destiny while also not revealing who she is to the wrong people. Though she doesn’t fully trust the prince and his comrades she still feels the pull and need to go with him. While Hale must protector her in every way possible without letting her know the truth about them.

Though they are not the main characters in the book, I must say that Bri and Caries are amazing. The humor that these two bring are great and the way that they want to encourage Remy to grow even though she wants to put herself down is great. These supporting characters are everything!

This book was a fun and entertaining read for me for almost 90% of it. Remy's "secret" in my opinion was heavily hinted at throughout the book and therefore not much of a surprise for me, or really anyone even in the book at the end. All the characters around her had guessed as much from the good guys to the bad. The climax is what I didnt enjoy, the fight felt rushed, convenient and frustrating for me. It didnt do the entire book justice.
I will probably continue the series.

The writing was repetitive and juvenile but I enjoyed the storyline even if all the big reveals were pretty obvious. I would've even rated it higher except the end battle was underwhelming and the MC just sort of stood by and had no part in it. A couple other things didn't really make sense but all in all it was enjoyable and I'll continue the series.

Love the world created with witches and fae as well as the adventure. The main reveal of the book was easy to figure out early in the book, but did not detract from my enjoyment at all.

I received an advanced reader copy of The High Mountain Court in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to A.K.Mulford and Harper Collins Uk.

A K Mulford is an author I have been following for a while, so when the opportunity came to read The High Mountain Court I jumped at the chance and was not disappointed. The High Mountain Court follows Remy; young woman who just quite possibly is the last Red Witch in existence after the Northern court murdered her home court and made Red witches an extremely valuable commodity.

When the Fae Prince Hale seeks her out in his mission to prevent the catastrophes of the past being repeated, Remy finds herself with the chance to restore order of her fallen court and to save the country she holds so dear.

I quickly grew to love the rag tag group that took centre stage within the novel. While I wasn't surprised by any of the twists, I found it to be an enjoyable ride and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

This book was perfectly average. Nothing out of the ordinary, but fun, a little spicy, and a good time! I will be continuing the series but not in the near future. I wanna see more of the kingdom and what’s going to happen!
