Depois de ter gostado muito de Klara e o Sol do mesmo autor, este ficou aquém das minhas expectativas. O tema até é interessante: meninos que são criados em instituições para mais tarde, em adultos

servirem como dadores de órgãos.Mas a voz da narradora não me cativou. Tive de me esforçar para sentir empatia pelas personagens. Achei alguns diálogos inverosímeis. A personalidade de Ruth irritou-me bastante. E perto do fim, quando Tommy e Kath encontram a Madame e finalmente têm oportunidade de esclarecer algumas ocorrências do seu passado, o autor resolve espetar com tudo em duas ou três páginas.
Se calhar fui com expectativas demasiado altas mas esta leitura acabou por ser um pouco decepcionante.

Jag tyckte om språket, och jag tyckte om karaktärerna, till och med berättelsen tyckte jag om. Jag medger dessutom att boken har en kraftfull upplösning, och den skulle möjligen inte vara lika kraftfull om man plockade bort ens den minsta av händelserna. Men å vad det tog emot att läsa ibland. Allt tog så jävla lång tid

I read this book for a college exam. I must say, it’s an extremely hard book to just casually grab and ready and I strongly believe it only gets better closer to the end. It pains me to say this, as I usually am a big fan of Asian literature, but I would hardly recommend this book to anyone. The end is fantastic and the feeling one gets once they get to the most important discussion of the book and starts to understand it (finally) is simply unmatched. Nevertheless, it felt too much like a task to finish the book, and I only started to get that “can’t stop reading the book now” feeling when I only had around 60 pages of it left. If you’re someone who’s really into science fiction and stories being told a bit in media res, maybe you’ll like it! The ending truly is phenomenal, I’m just sad that the rest doesn’t even compare to it.
