The story itself is interesting. I really didn't care for the writing style. It felt like the author found a thesaurus and went crazy. Honestly my favorite part was the short story at the end. I wish that had been the book.

gothic romance mixed with body horror and words you never knew existed! i’m glad this is a novella bc i can’t imagine reading anymore then a 100 pages of this 😭
a morbid retelling of the little mermaid but make her love interest a plague doctor with a traumatic back story. she also has a tragic backstory which of course ends with a tragic love story. the writing is intricate and surgical in a strangely poetic way. i think im pretty smart but there were words i had to look up a few times 😭
