I read this a several years ago and it was a book that has stuck with me.
That being said, as I listened the audiobook, there were things that had slipped from my memory, so it really was like reading it again for the first time.
This is a cute story... a nice steady pace throughout.
If you want a quick read, then I recommend this. Great in between those heavier books!

a proper enemies to lovers(!)
not only is there real development for the characters throughout the book, but a real plot as well. main and side characters are likeable, theyve all got different and clear personalities which makes any side stories fun to read. the writing is strong which makes the chemistry between the main characters believable, but also makes the slow burn enjoyable. a tad bit cheesy and predictable, but i knew what genre it was before going in so its not a massive deal. overall, just a strong romantic novel that has a legit plot and call backs that were done so well.

This book, the story of Posy, who inherits the bookstore where she grew up (her father ran it and her mother ran the tea shop) and works to turn it into a bookstore specializing in romance books, is a delight. I had actually been debating reading chicklit (a term railed against in the book) or trashy romance when I chose this, and it was perfect--as Posy tries her hand at a Regency romance throughout the book. Two in one!
Unlike so many of this type of book, Darling did a good job depicting the problems of running a bookstore, and what it would take to change it around. The book ends before we see whether the rebranded bookstore will be a success, though the existence of 2 sequels indicates that Happily Ever After will be OK. Even so, showing the actual struggles and not glossing over them was greatly appreciated.

Sebastian's initial reaction when he found out also annoyed me--it seemed way over the top.I definitely want to read the follow-up stories in the series, as the coworkers were developed enough to interest me in their stories.
I would prefer to give this book 3.5 stars, but goodreads likes to be difficult about things.
I liked this book a lot, it's very fluffy and an easy read. I'd definitely recommend reading this on holiday or if you've had a bit of a reading slump. However if you're after fast paced gripping plot lines you might want to pass. It's more book the rests on the relationships between characters than actual action.

That being said Sebastians rushed proposal and pushy attitude towards getting married was a bit jarring. I also think that the plot centerd around withholding information from Sebastian was a little over exaggerated. Pippa the project planner didn't show any signs that she'd walk away if it was suddenly revealed to be romance over crime, so also keeping this from her seemed a bit forced. However overall I think how it all came together in the end was satisfying and I enjoyed reading

Cute. Somewhat predictable as romances usually are. But I can’t resist a book about a bookshop.
La verdad que esperaba que me gustara más este libro, pero no es solo el libro sino la forma de narrar de la autora. El argumento pintaba muy bien y si lo hubiera desarrollado de otra manera quizás me hubiera hecho más tilín. Sin duda me quedo con Sesbastian, es lo mejor del libro, las 3 estrellitas son para su personaje. Me he reído y muchas de las situaciones entre Sebastian y Posy son graciosas y desesperantes y su intercambio de pullas me gustó, es lo que puedo salvar de esta lectura.
Edito: después de un tiempo decido bajarle puntuación porque con el tiempo se descinchó lo poco que me había gustado :/

Desde que seus pais morreram, sete anos atrás, Posy Morland nunca mais foi a mesma pessoa. Tendo que virar guardiã legal do seu irmão mais novo tudo o que ela não precisava era de mais uma responsabilidade.
Mas Lavínia tinha outros planos para ela. Dona de uma livraria com mais de cem anos passada de geração em geração em sua família, ao falecer deixa o negócio na mão de Posy, quem ela abrigou como se fosse uma neta, e aos olhos supervisores de Sebastian Thorndyke, neto de Lavínia e o homem mais grosso de Londres (segundo diversos tablóides).
Com a missão de reerguer a livraria que está à beira da falência, Posy resolve transformar a Bookends na "Felizes Para Sempre", uma livraria especializada em livros do gênero romance.
Contudo, fazer planos é muito mais fácil do que colocá-los em ação. Principalmente com o maldito-infeliz e grosso (sério deve ter essa palavra umas 92938328 vezes nesse livro) Thorndyke dificultando tudo com suas ideias ridículas, comentários sarcásticos e depreciativos.
A Pequena Livraria dos Corações Solitários tinha tudo para ser uma das minhas leituras favoritas do ano: o enredo, a ambientação, a "rixa"/ tensão sexual antiga entre os dois personagens principais...porém, nada disso foi aprofundado devidamente.
O conflito principal do enredo (ideia para salvar a livraria) é resolvido rapidamente, a já citada livraria é »dita« como especial e importante para vários personagens, mas em poucos (ou nenhum) momentos mostra-se de fato. E o romance, meu caríssimo leitor, o "romance" acontece em 15 (ou menos) páginas antes do livro acabar.
Porém, para mim a parte mais irritante foi o Sebastian. É muito difícil eu não gostar os interesses amorosos do livro, mas esse cara é um bosta, com B maiúsculo. Um...GROSSO (brincadeira). Tudo bem que há pessoas que agem de maneiras um tanto inusitadas quando gosta de alguém, mas ele é um otário 85% do livro (sim, eu marquei). Fora as "piadinhas" com um plano de fundo um tanto machista e os comentários indiscretos relacionado ao corpo da protagonista.
Mas, não tema, meu estimado leitor, nas últimas 15 ou menos páginas do livro, todas as razões porque ele é um bosta simplesmente evaporam no ar sob a ideia de que "no mundo real, ninguém é perfeito, né?"
A Posy me mataria se me visse pensando em colocar o livro dela como Chick-lit, mas foi essa a energia que a obra me passou: um Chick-lit focado no esforço da protagonista para atingir um objetivo, enquanto o romance fica para escanteio.
Não é uma leitura de todo ruim, no entanto. A escrita de Darling é envolvente e bem rapidinha. Tem momentos bastante divertidos, engraçados e alguns BEEEM cringe que me faziam parar de ler, esfregar o rosto, respirar fundo e voltar para leitura (como o romance da regência que ela começou a escrever).

I did like it, I stayed up till 430 am to finish reading it. But my only gripe, and the reason the book gets three stars, is the whole "you told me no more than once so I'm going to grab you and pin you to make you see reason, woman."
I get where the trope comes from, both woman and men have problems speaking their mind and it is kinda romantic when a potential lover can "read your mind" so to say and know when your no means yes. I just see it way too often in literature for it to sit right with me. I've had plenty of personal experiences of me saying no and the other party not taking the "hint." (Even though it's not a hint it's a straight up statement but whatever).
