I was very curious to get into “Holy Harry’s” head, to see what he was really like, and he did not disappoint. I love all of the Jonquils for their individuality, and this love story was very sweet, just as I was hoping.

Harold Jonquil is one of the younger Jonquil brothers, which means he has been teased mercilessly by his older brothers. They have called him 'Holy Harry' for as long as he can remember, and they continue to do so even after he becomes the local vicar. After years of being teased and going to school to learn how to be a proper vicar, he discovers that the job is more difficult than he anticipated. He is unfulfilled in his work. When he comes face to face with Sarah Sarvol, a girl he fell in love with many years ago, he is forced to address why he feels the way he does. As he strives to become a better vicar he gets to know the people in his parish better, he reaches out to his family in ways he hasn't in a long time, and he discovers that love is possible.
The Heart of a Vicar is another wonderful Jonquil brothers book. Harold has been introduced in all of the previous books, but in an obscure way. The way he develops in this book is wonderful, as you read you learn that he is compassionate and funny and real. There is also real development in other members of the family. I would recommend that you read the previous books as it will make this book a little easier to follow and more enjoyable to get into. Harold might be my new favorite brother after reading this book, that's how great of a read it is!

I received an e-ARC copy of The Heart of a Vicar from the publisher and netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Harold Jonquil has always felt that he was suppose to be a vicar. When Sarah Savol returns from America, Harry is confronted with his past in the girl who got away. Sarah is finding England a lot lonelier than she expected and ends up spending lots of time at the Jonquil estate.

I am a major Sarah M Eden fan and the Jonquil and Lancaster series are my favorite. Harold, aka Holy Harry is the second youngest brother and a bit sanctimonious. He always quotes the bible and he's pretty removed. So I was really curious to read Harry's book.

Turns out that Harry is rather a complicated character. It was very interesting to be his head. Harry actually suffers from almost crippling self doubt. When he doesn't know what to say he retreats to words from the bible. He isn't sure where he fits with his brothers and he's lost himself. I found Harry to so delightful while he looks what he should be. He is so different from what we've seen of him in his brother's books.

Sarah was a happy character who felt genuine. Things are not happening as she expects and she decides that the only thing she can control is her reaction. I thought her challenge to Harry was so much fun and greatly needed.

This book was awesome. Eden handle multiple characters from multiple books with a deftness that is masterful. There are 6 other books in this series plus crossover with the Lancaster series. I never felt like there were too many characters in the room which was really great.

I loved this book. I think that this book made me cry the second most. Glimmer of Hope still holds the title of making me feel all the feels.

Why did it take me so long to read this book? Or listen - the audiobook was great!

Like all of SME books, this was another great book! We’ve heard all about Holy Harry throughout the Jonquil series. But there is more to him than being a vicar. He forgot some of what that was, and others he hid away thinking it wasn’t becoming of a vicar. It was great seeing Harry become comfortable in his own skin around all his brothers and ever expanding family. His brothers may tease him but they know that when it comes to it - Harry is dependable and family is everything.

Sarah has some misgivings about returning to England from America. She lost her heart her and it broke too. But she’s determined to help her brother and like any American - she’s overly confident, has grit and helps where she can. Hard on the outside and soft on the inside. I love how she waged a battle of vicars with Harry. And the lifting contest at the fair

Okay, that was adorable. I love that Eden gives her characters such depth and believability. Harold and Sarah's relationship has such meaning and realness to it.

But I just gotta say my very most favorite part was the scene with the Jonquil Freers of Prisoners. No one is abandoned. No one is forgotten. So great! I love this family with all their quirks and banter. And also all those moments of wittiness between the various members.

Spoiler Oh and when Philip sees his newborn twins... Goodness, that was unbearably tender and just melted my heart. I just love the Jonquils so much!

Eden has done a remarkable job with this family. I can't wait to see what Charlie's story ends up being. I know we're all rooting for him and Artemis to be a thing. Then Philip and The Duke will really have to hash it out again... but with even more scenes together than provided in Loving Lieutenant Lancaster. I just can't get enough of those two interacting with one another.

Anyway, I digress. This book is adorable. That's all.
