Lola is a beta who has completely written off alphas from her life. After being abused by two of them, she cannot even stand near alphas. However, when she meets a beta and start having feelings for him, Lola finds out that he already belongs to a pack who has a male omega, and she cannot wait to run away. However, this pack is not willing to let her go. They want to try to help her how much they can, and when one of the alphas who abused her comes back to torment her, she will need their help to survive.

I read Baby & the Night Howlers, but I feel like Lola's story is way much better. It was full of intrigue and feelings, and I felt so much for Lola and all the horrors she had to go through. I really hope her (future) pack can protect her and make her realise that she's worthy of their love.

One of the best omegaverse stories I've read and I can only recommend this book and it's continuation. In fact they author can be recommended for her other polyamorous stories as well! I've already read the Librarian's Cove and the Summerland Stories and they were great as well.

All the main characters are very likeable, interesting, individual and realistically depicted. The chemistry between them was amazing and I loved the natural flow of the story and its pacing.
The author took time to really build the relationships between the characters and their connection to each other is palpable and enticing. There are parts of the story that made me laugh, parts that made me tear up or even frustrated. The story is really engaging and even the side characters are doing their part and don't feel flat or artifical. That is a really difficult thing to manage but Kathryn Moon nailed it!

The sexy scenes were also to my liking - not too much and not to few and well written.
What I also love is that we are really experiencing the characters' feelings and traits by their behaviour. For example, it is not just mentioned that our female lead (FL) is competent in her job - we really experience it. No empty words, but actions - that is so important for a good story and many authors fail to implement that.

The way the polyamorous relationships were portrayed was really good and I liked that some of the male leads (MLs) were only intimate with the FL - not because ML/ML action is bad but it is an authentic way to show that people's sexuality is diverse and not just cookie-cutter pattern - even if they all belong to the same pack. It really was supporting the individual charm of the main characters with all their own quirks and properties.

What I also love is that the FL is not just a means to improve the MLs' relationships with each other or to therapise them. The MLs are fine as they are and don't "need" the FL to have a good live but they still want her and she has her own role to play within the pack which has it's own positive impact on the pack dynamics. This is mainly addressed in the second book though. Moreover, the FL has experienced trauma which is addressed in an authentic way. She is vulnerable but still shows strength and tries to move forward.

The biggest hooray from my side goes to the fact that the FL is a Beta, though! I love this. I like Omegas and I love myself an Omega FL if well written, but I really feel like most omegaverse stories are treating their Betas like second class citizens and I hate that often they are suggested to be not a vital part of a pack. To me a good omegaverse story is where every designation is appreciated and people are valued for being who they are (personality-wise) and not what they are (designation). So I'm very happy that our FL is a Beta and proves that Betas are not inferior compared to Alphas or Omegas.

All in all, this book and its continuation is a must read when it comes to omegaverse stories!
Otherwise you will be missing out ;)

"I could still get hurt, even if it was done innocently. I could hurt them too; there were no guarantees in this. But if it was only anxiety talking, then I owed it to myself to get that shit sorted."
