funny slow-paced

I struggled with this story. It felt like there were too many characters and plot lines for what the book seemed to be. The fluctuation between the maturity and immaturity of the characters was odd. While I enjoyed the last 50ish pages, the book overall seemed too long. I did enjoy the writing style of the chapters that were written in full prose. This story was not meant for me I think. I may or may not try this author again.

fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot

Fun book for someone who has roots in Malaysia and Singapore. The writing style feels a bit dated and very characteristic of an old millennial. Which is alright as the character is who she is writing as…. but some dialogue / inner dialogue is kind of cringe. And it makes the book feel less timeless, but rather a relic of its time.
