I really did not like this book. I found myself speed reading through it waiting for it to get good and it just never did. When it was pitched like Crazy Rich Asians meets Bridget Jones I was pumped but it fell so flat. I didn't connect at all with Andrea and none of the love interests were that appealing. Sad I wasted time on it and I rarely say that about a book.

If Crazy Rich Asians and Bridget Jones Diary had a millennial love child - it would be this book. Witty, chaotic and messy.

DNF. I saw a review telling me to wait past Chapter 7, and honey I got to Chapter 17 wondering why I was wasting my time.
Very slow, heroine is relatable in terms of immigrant culture...but is not admirable.
Think Bridget Jones Diary, but with no humor and wit.
Yeah...disappointed with this one.

Mediocre writing and predictable storyline pulled down the plot even though it took place in Singapore and Malaysia. Andrea Tang, the main character, aspires to become partner in her law firm but travel does not feel like an adventure in this book. She is also feeling pressure to get married and meets two suitable men suddenly and must figure out the right one.

I give this book 4 stars. This was such a fun read! My only criticism of it is that I wish there had been an epilogue. I needed a little more closure. Even though this book was fun and light Crazy Rich Asians-esque, I felt there were pieces that were relatable and that I could connect too, as a woman who wants to be able to be independent with or without a partner. I was WHOLLY entertained by this book! I barely wanted to put it down.

So, I like the writing style and I loved the look into Chinese culture but the main character was just annoying and unlikeable af. I skipped like 200 pages and she was still droning on about the same thing. She complains nonstop. I honestly couldn't care if she reaches her goals or not and I don't feel sorry for her.

I love Crazy Rich Asians and will never miss a Kevin Kwan book, but this was just not it.

This reminded me a LOT of Crazy Rich Asians, which everyone told me was "a satire" but which simply seemed like a fictionalized People magazine issue. . . but Last Tang Standing *was* funny, satirical, likable, and well written! VERY enjoyable glimpse into a different country and experience for me.

this was better than i thought itd be actually, the way the love interests were written were v compelling + while i thought the main character was a bit of a terrible person sometimes, it was fun to read through her eyes and root for her as she oscillated between making questionable decisions and the right ones :]
