What I loved about this book the most is that it had something the others had less, a well build up tension about the upcoming finale. There was a visit from another King's character from one of his early books.
If you haven't read the Dark Tower series, I'd highly recommend it for its epic storytelling arc - this may be one of the weaker books in the series, but it's still excellent.
I forgot how much build-up there is in this book (sort of a bridge between the action/history of the last and the building climax of "Song of Susannah"). Despite that relatively slow pacing for the first two thirds of the book, it still lives up to the rest of the Dark Tower series and is well worth reading. The fake Maine accents ("Do ya" and "Tell me I beg" and "Big big") always turn me off but it's understandable that King felt the need to draw parallels between the Calla and the rural northeast US to tie together the whole Salem's Lot crossover and differentiate the Calla from everything the Gunslingers have seen to date.

Empiezo a entender por qué "La torre oscura" es una de las obras más valoradas de Stephen King. Tengo que reconocer que empecé la saga un poco perdida. No entendía muy bien de qué iba, qué me estaba queriendo decir, a donde iba a llegar... Pero si ya me cautivó con el tercero, este tomo me ha terminado de enamorar. Casi hace que parezca fácil crear un universo tan grande y tan lleno de magia, y a la vez tan cercano.
Las conexiones con otras novelas de King son mucho más marcadas en esta parte, no se limitan solo a palabras, personajes o lugares sueltos, tanto es así que en ocasiones me ha parecido que estaba leyendo la segunda parte de "El misterio de Salem's Lot". Ésto hace que empieces a comprender por qué merece la pena leerse las novelas relacionadas y no solo la saga en sí, lo hace todo muchísimo más interesante y más rico.
La novela tiene varios hilos argumentales y todos ellos se me han hecho muy interesantes, todos relacionados entre sí de manera magistral. En uno de ellos nos cuenta la historia del padre Callahan, personaje de "El misterio de Salem's Lot", y te cuenta bastante más sobre
Por ponerle una pega, creo que King se enrolla un poquito más de la cuenta a veces y el libro es bastante largo por ello, pero aún así, a mi no se me hizo pesado en absoluto y algo en la forma de escribir de este hombre hace que me enganche cuente lo que me cuente, de verdad.
El final me ha dejado con muchísimas ganas de más y quiero seguir ya las aventuras de mi ka-tet, porque sí, YO YA LES QUIERO COMO SI FUERAN DEL MÍO. Sobre todo a Jake y Acho, mis rollitos de canela.
De momento ha sido el libro que más me ha gustado de La torre oscura, pero espero que los siguientes me gusten aún más.
PD: Las referencias a Harry Potter y Star Wars, y las menciones a sí mismo como escritor me han hecho bastante gracia...

While this book was easier to get through than when I was in high school, this is still my least favorite in the series. I thought I remembered it was because Calla Bryn Sturgis was boring but that can’t be it because it doesn’t even get much story time compared to the book size. Maybe it’s the trips to New York I was getting bored with? Or maybe I just wish we had gotten to the point sooner without so many diversions?
That being said, I enjoyed Callahan’s story too and I’m glad I’ve read Salem’s Lot now. I remember reading Callahan’s story the first time and thinking Salem’s Lot sounded really cool; it was.
