4 stars. This book was definitely my second favorite of the series so far. It felt like a very dark and twisted fairytale for adults with all the different stories being told. It's a huge book (over 900 pages) but I never once felt like there were parts that dragged or lulled. Everything moved at such a steady pace and flowed really well. This volume in particular I felt was really great development for Jake's character which was awesome to see. He's grown so much since we're first introduced to him in book one.

I know the next book has such polarizing reviews on it but I'm super excited about it anyways. This series continues to entertain me and blow me away.

So far my favorite book of the series. I love seeing characters I’ve grown to care for over the course of a series getting to explore other aspects of life/their personalities and it the writing is not only true to the character it also feels like a gift to the reader…A gift you’ve been waiting for, finally get to open, and it isn’t just “good,” it is better than you expected.
